Mathias glared fiercely at Amara and Celina. “You two clueless imbeciles! You spent more time with her than Calden did. How could you not have known?”
His voice echoed through the vast living room, bouncing off the expensive wallpaper and crystal chandeliers.
Amara tried to defend herself. “It was Zarelle who deceived us all. What’s that got to do with me? You ran a background check on her before she married into the family, and you didn”t find anything either, did you?”
Her voice was sharp, defensive. She wasn”t about to take all the blame for this disaster.
Mathias huffed, his chest heaving with barely controlled rage.
He knew she had a point, but that only made him angrier.
Celina, fearful her father would mention the jade ring again, shrank back an
