“Zarelle, I had no idea it was you who saved me,” Calden confessed, his voice filled with astonishment. “I was out cold from my injuries, and my teammates didn’t see you either. I’m sorry for not realizing it sooner… I… I…”
Zarelle interrupted him, her tone firm yet compassionate. “Calden, it’s okay. You don’t have to apologise. The important thing is that you’re safe now.”
Since the hospital didn’t allow non-family members of the patient to stay overnight, Zarelle had to leave. Calden watched her disappear from the doorway, his gaze filled with longing. A flicker of sadness passed through his eyes. He had to let her go, at least for now.
