(Sabrina’s POV)
He's loosened his tie and rolled up his shirtsleeves, looking tired but still impossibly put-together in that way only he can manage.
"Hey," he says softly. "Rough day?"
The understatement makes me laugh. "You could say that."
"I'm sorry." He stops a few feet away, giving me space. "You shouldn't have been put in that position."
"It's not your fault. Dustin and Jessica have been trying to destroy me since the divorce. This was just their latest attempt."
"Which failed spectacularly." His lips quirk into a small smile. "You were brilliant in there, Sabrina. The way you stayed calm and dismantled their case step by step—I was impressed."
The praise makes my chest warm. "I just did what I had to do."
