I go downstairs to receive them.
Play the gracious hostess. The welcoming grandmother. The woman who's accepted this union.
Outwardly, at least.
Because I've decided: I need to know more. Need to see Sabrina in her element. Watch how she handles pressure. Test whether she's truly strong enough for this world or whether she'll c***k like I fear.
During lunch, I watch her.
The way she engages in conversation—thoughtful, articulate, not trying to impress but not shrinking either.
The way she handles Rosalie.
Because I see it. The way Sabrina's eyes track Rosalie when Rosalie touches Ethan's arm. The way something shifts in Sabrina's expression when Rosalie laughs at one of Ethan's jokes.
She knows.
Somehow, she's figured out what Rosalie wants. What Rosalie's doing.
