The sound of Serena’s heels finally faded leaving me emotionally overwhelmed. I leaned against the doorframe because my legs suddenly felt numb. The adrenaline that had carried me through the confrontation was gone. "Ava? Are you alright? You’re shaking," Sarah whispered, stepping closer. Her eyes were wide with concern. "I’m fine, Sarah," I lied, though my hand wouldn't stop trembling as I reached for my stomach. "Just... give me a moment. And please, call the building security. I don't want to see her here ever again." I walked back into my office and sank into my chair. The sketches on my desk that I had been so proud of ten minutes ago now looked like blurred lines. I felt a wave of nausea and the familiar morning sickness heightened by the bile Serena had brought into my space.
