Margot POV Rhett timed it perfectly. When Elena Brooks pushed the door open, he let me go. I stumbled to my feet, my balance still shot from being held against him. My shoes caught awkwardly on the floor, and I lurched forward, barely catching myself before I went down on one knee. Elena saw it. Her eyes dropped to me, then flicked over the state of my clothes. My collar was loose. My hair was a mess. My lips were swollen, and the corners of my eyes were still wet. And there was no hiding Rhett's scent. It stuck to me. Elena's folder slipped from her hand and hit the floor with a sharp slap. She halted abruptly in the doorway. For a second, nobody said anything. Then Rhett nodded toward the folder. “Leave it there.” He tipped his chin toward the floor. “Close the door.”
