Shadow POV Not getting an invitation into Pip's room wasn't surprising, but it was definitely disappointing. I really didn't want to leave her alone. What if she has another nightmare? I needed to be with her. A strange place, alone in a room, no one to support her through the nightmares. She needs me. Would it look desperate if I camped outside her door all night, hoping Pip would call out? But the rooms are soundproof, so sitting at her door wouldn't help her or me. I admonished myself for useless thoughts. I made sure Pip knew which number to dial if she had a nightmare and wanted company. I got that one right before Pip could question why I told her. Would she call me, though? That was the clincher; it made me walk away. I knew she wouldn't call me. Pip likes to solve her
