I was left in the sitting room with little Julian. His nanny stayed nearby, keeping an eye on him as he played with his toys on the floor. Meanwhile, I sat quietly in a chair, trying to keep my thoughts from spiraling.
Whatever Helio was dealing with, I just hoped it would end well.
He hadn’t told me much, but I could sense the tension in him earlier. It was in the way he moved, the way his voice had tightened slightly when he spoke.
Something serious was happening.
I had already been feeling that tension long before I told him about Eleanor’s phone call, but after I mentioned it, the atmosphere around him seemed to grow even heavier.
Helio never told me exactly where he was going. But seeing Violet and Danae leave with him made it obvious enough.
