Helio didn’t come to the office today, but just as my mom had said, I wasn’t going home for now.
The moment I finished work, Mrs. Lucy walked up to me. She was the one assigned to escort me to the mansion. As we stepped outside, she spoke first.
“From now on, I’ll be escorting you from work to the mansion. Those are the Alpha’s orders. You are not to follow anyone else.”
She stopped and turned to look at me, her expression daring and serious.
“Take this seriously, Idara. Peradventure anyone comes to you and says Mrs. Lucy couldn’t make it and that you should come with them, that’s your cue. You’ll know immediately that they’re not one of us.”
I nodded sharply, swallowing hard.
Since I was already in this, I had to be careful—play smart and do my best to stay out of trouble.
