Luna’s POV We drop Mr Farris back home. This time, Ashton also gets out of the car, walking around the hood to the passenger side and opening the door, gently taking my neighbour’s frail arm and helping him out before guiding him toward the apartment building as I follow behind, carrying the box with his cake inside. We step through the rusted, metal door and I watch the pair as they slowly navigate the stairs together, the crotchety old man and the standoffish hockey star, who somehow seem to have become friends in the short time that I was in the store. ‘Will you be watching the game tonight?’ Ashton asks as we round the corner of the second floor, my neighbour huffing loudly from the physical exertion. ‘Of course I will boy, I support my damn team,’ Mr Farris grumbles.
