Kane’s POV I hold Brandy’s gaze, my heart thumping out of my chest as I wait for her to speak. My woman’s lips part, trying to form words, once, then twice, but no words emerge. Her tongue snakes out, wetting the soft skin of her lower lip before she presses her lips together again. ‘Firebug,’ I warn, my gaze pinned to her face. She swallows, looking away from me, focusing on the ceiling over my right shoulder. ‘I’d rather not have this conversation here,’ she finally mutters. ‘We’re in a café Kane . . .’ I nod, leaning back for a fraction of a second before abruptly pushing my chair back and rising to my feet.
