Ashton’s POV The rich, savoury aroma of something delicious wafts through the house, drawing me down the hallway. In my arms, I carry a still sleepy little girl toward the stairs. Beth woke up after an hour’s nap, rubbing her red, heavy eyes as she blinked up at me, the devastation of earlier mostly erased from her gaze. I Pat her back reassuringly as we start to make our way down the stairs, following the enticing scent that grows stronger with every step. ‘What is that smell?’ my little girl mumbles against my neck as we reach the bottom step. ‘I don’t know baby, but it smells amazing, let's go and find out shall we? Maybe Luna is cooking,’ I add, a fragile thread of hope threading through my voice. If Luna is cooking, it means that she really is going to stay with us. . . doesn’t it
