Kane’s POV Brandy’s breathing hitches as she looks at me, ‘I’m sure you didn’t, Kane,’ she murmurs. I laugh harshly, ‘we’ll see,’ I reply, before tightening my grip on her fingers as I delve into what is my most shameful memory. ‘It was about halfway through first grade, we had a visit at our school, a man who talked about a hockey learn to play initiative for kids in the area. We were a low income area, there was a lot of crime due to no jobs, so this charity came and said that we could all come to the local ice rink and they would give us a free taster day. I’d never played any sport before, other than in gym but the way this guy talked about hockey . . . it sounded like the coolest thing in the world. I knew dad would say no, he always said no to anything that I didn’t have to partak
