Ashton’s POV I stumble onto the coach and sink into a seat on my own, the hushed, urgent murmurs of my teammates drifting through the cabin in a low frequency hum. We’re heading to the airport to take a charter flight to the next city on our game list, yet a heavy tension lingers; the uncertainty of whether Kane will be hitting the ice with us tomorrow night hangs over the entire team. To my right, Kane is slumped deep into his own seat. His earbuds are jammed in his ears as he talks on a low voice to someone on a video call, I assume it’s his wife Brandy who no doubt saw the game and is ringing to berate, sympathise or most likely do both with the Enforcer.
