It’s Monday, and I’m still lost in my head as I climb out of my car in front of the Hawks offices and make my way inside. I nod to the few other workers I pass, saying nothing as I try to stop the incessant voice in my mind that keeps going over and over what happened with Kane. He didn’t reach out to me at all Sunday, not that he usually does after we meet up . . . But . . .
I shake my head violently, he owes me nothing, I sound like some type of damn needy girlfriend, which is a sure-fire way to scare any man away, let alone one you contracted to be your booty call.
