I tried to quit yesterday, but Harwell talked me into finishing the trial. They were right when they said no other attorney would touch her with a ten-foot pole. Mr. McMinn had made sure of that. I honestly thought she was guilty from the start. But I wanted to make a name for myself. I saw her allegation on the news about what her husband had done. It was plausible, and I believed that if I worked hard enough, I could get her off.
