Brooks proposal this morning caught me off guard. I knew he was going to ask. He hadn't made a secret of it; I just didn’t think that he would do it quite this fast. I had mentioned marriage to Emma. She was aware that things were getting pretty serious between us. She even encouraged me to take the chance. I was very glad that she supported my getting married. I hadn’t expected to find love again, not after what Halton had done to me. I was thrilled to be proven wrong.
