As we stepped into the house, I announced to the kids. “Maya is coming over.”
Riley’s eyes widened in surprise. “She’s in New York? She asked, her voice filled with excitement.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
I took their bags into their room and offered them some snacks. “Y’all should stay in your room and play, so the adults can talk.”
Riley and Rowan initially wanted separate rooms but after they spent a night without each other, they decided that they didn’t want separate rooms anymore.
I smiled as I checked my phone and saw Maya’s message. She was at the door and I couldn’t wait to get the weight off my shoulders.
“Maya is at the door,” I called out to Riley and Rowan who trailed behind me as I headed to the front door. They were so excited to see her.
