Nicholas’s stomach gave a faint growl, making Harper turn toward him with an amused grin.
“Seriously? We just got here!”
“You can’t expect me to smell all this delicious food and not get hungry,” Nicholas protested.
He glanced at his watch, his eyebrows shooting up.
“Oh, s**t! It’s almost nine! No wonder!”
Then, turning back to Harper, he flashed her a wicked grin.
“Besides, didn’t we burn a ridiculous amount of calories earlier?” he added suggestively. “I need to replenish my energy if you expect me to keep up with you again later tonight.”
