Book 4:6

1237 Words

Faith moved quietly through the servants’ wing of the mansion, a small basket of food and medicine tucked under her arm. The young maid, Lila, had been coughing for days—wet, rattling sounds that echoed in the narrow hallways. No one seemed to care. Werewolves healed fast, but humans in service to the pack? They were invisible. “Take this,” Faith whispered, pressing the basket into Lila’s hands. “Rest tonight. I’ll cover your duties if anyone asks.” Lila’s eyes widened in fear and gratitude. “Luna, you shouldn’t. If Alpha finds out—” “He won’t,” Faith said firmly. “Just get better.” She slipped back toward the main house before anyone could see her. Defiance tasted sweet on her tongue. Ronan could make all the rules he wanted. She refused to become another cold shadow in this mansion.
