Aria's POV
Her expression changed. "My mother needs to know that I don't want any part of this."
I stared at her. "She won't accept that."
"I know." Sadness filled her eyes. "But she has to."
Before I could respond, the forest trembled around us. A strange force tugged at my consciousness. I looked down and froze. My hands were becoming translucent.
"What is happening?"
"You are waking up."
Panic immediately surged through me. I tried to move, but my body refused to respond.
"Why can't I move?"
"Because you haven't regained full control of your body yet." She looked at me sadly. "We are both still connected to it."
I lifted my gaze to hers. "What do I do? How do I regain control?"
