Aria's POV
The room was silent. My eyes immediately found Devin. He lay unconscious beside the bed.
"Damn it!"
I knelt beside him. His pulse was steady. Just like the guards outside, he was also drugged. My stomach twisted.
Slowly... terrifyingly... I looked toward the hospital bed. It was empty.
The blankets had been thrown aside. The restraints the healer had occasionally used during my father's violent curse episodes had been cut clean through.
My father was gone.
"No..." The word barely escaped my lips. "No... no..."
My breathing became uneven.

I forced myself to stand.
