Aria's POV
The altar reacted. A wall of golden energy exploded between us.
"Damon!"
The force struck him in the chest. He was thrown backward. He hit the floor hard and rolled several feet before coming to a stop.
"No!" I struggled against the restraints. "Damon!"
He pushed himself onto one elbow. His face twisted with pain, but he looked at me. "Aria..."
Don't worry about me. I am fine." The lie barely made it past my lips.
Damon's eyes darkened. "You're not fine."
I wanted to tell him to stay away. I wanted to tell him to run, but the altar pulled again. My entire body jerked. I screamed.
Damon immediately tried to stand.
