Aria's POV Things between Damon and me changed after that night. He started visiting the estate more often. Sometimes he came to see me. Sometimes he claimed he was checking on Elona. Other times, he simply appeared. And I stopped pretending I didn't notice. There was something different about him now. The Damon who had once looked at me as though I were a damsel in distress who needed help had disappeared. In his place was a man who watched me carefully, who listened when I spoke, and who believed in me. Lydia noticed it too. He is trying. I glanced toward Damon as we walked through the garden. He was speaking to one of my guards, but his eyes kept drifting back to me. Very hard, Lydia added smugly. I rolled my eyes. You sound pleased. Of course I am. I suppressed a smile. Damon
