I stared at the window. "I know who backed the ambush."
There was silence. Then his voice became sharper. "Who?"
"The Nightshade Clan."
Another silence followed. I could practically imagine Rhein lifting his head inside Damon. "Are you certain?"
"Yes. Joshua's investigation connected the attackers' equipment markings and combat style to them. Ryder confirmed Nightshade activity around the border through commercial records. Noah found evidence that Silas maintained a long-term trading relationship with the clan."
Damon exhaled slowly. "So Silas was working for them."
"More accurately, he was working with them." I moved toward the window. "And now that he's gone, they're moving themselves."
Damon didn't hesitate. "I'll increase reconnaissance around Silvermoon territory."
