The rest of us listened — not passively, with the specific quality of attention that built a picture rather than just receiving one. By the end of the three hours I had a picture of Sera that was more complete than anything in the documentation alone could have provided, because documentation recorded what happened and Grath's father had recorded what he'd done, but Corva's questions filled in what Sera had actually been: specific, stubborn, funny in the particular way of people who found the absurdity in serious situations, and building something in her territory that had been extraordinary by any honest measure.
