He knocked on the door of the smallest room in the east building.
He had a plan for this conversation. He'd assembled it on the walk across the compound yard, which had given him approximately forty-five seconds of preparation time, which was not a great deal of preparation time for a conversation of this magnitude, but which was what was available and he was going to use it efficiently.
The plan was: he would tell her about Arden. He would be factual about it. He would say what had happened, what had been discussed, and what the practical outcome was — which was that a man was staying in the compound temporarily and she should know that a new person would be present in her space. He would answer any questions she had. Then he would return to the perimeter.
