I waited outside Lilith’s door the entire time the doctor performed the examination. Inside, I could hear the muffled sounds of Lilith and the doctor talking for a long time. For over half an hour, I paced outside, ignoring the pointed looks from the guard stationed at her door.
Finally, the doctor emerged from the room with a weary expression on his face.
“How is she?” I demanded, walking over to him.
“She’s physically fine,” he reported. “The miscarriage was complete. No complications or signs of infection, which is a good sign. She needs rest, but I’m certain she’ll recover fully. I gave her some medication to help her sleep.”
I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I had been holding. “That’s good. Thank you.”
The doctor hesitated. “Alpha, if I may…” He gest
