Natalia The moment we stepped through the large wooden doors of Moonshadow’s grand ballroom, my heart felt like it was about to hammer out of my chest. Five years. It had been five years since I’d last set foot in this house, and now here I was, walking back in like a guest rather than the Luna I had once been. I inhaled sharply. The scent of polished wood, fresh flowers, and expensive perfume hit me all at once. It was a scent I knew all too well—I had lived with it for years, after all. Once, it had felt suffocating, like a shroud wrapping around me. Once, it had permeated every inch of my home no matter how hard I tried to get it out. Five years later and it still smelled the same, and that familiarity threatened to pull me back into memories I would have much rather forgotten.
