“I lied yesterday. I’m pregnant with Andrei’s child.”
As soon as those words came out of my mouth, Celeste looked like she had just seen a ghost. The wine bottle, once frozen in her hands, nearly slipped from her fingers before she carefully set it on the table with a trembling hand.
“You’re pregnant,” she whispered. It wasn’t a question.
I scrubbed my hands over my face and nodded. “I was going to keep it a secret until Andrei returned, but… Yes.” I glanced at her through my fingers. “You’re going to tell everyone now, aren’t you?”
