Rachel was tired of staying in her room all day. The walls felt like they were closing in. The silence pressed on her until she couldn’t breathe. After weeks of hiding, resting, and whispering promises to her growing belly, she needed air. She needed to see life happening around her. So she slipped out of the mansion and walked toward the training grounds. It was a warm afternoon. The sun shone brightly over the large open field where dozens of warriors trained. Swords clashed. Wolves sparred in shifted forms. Grunts and shouts filled the air. Rachel stayed at the edge, under the shade of a tall oak tree, watching quietly. Her loose dress hid her pregnancy well, but she still kept one hand resting protectively over the small curve of her belly. Her eyes found Kylian almost immediately.
