The next morning came too soon. Rachel had barely slept. Her eyes were swollen from crying, her body exhausted from the fainting and the emotional storm of her confession. She sat on the edge of her bed in the same loose dress from yesterday, staring at the floor. Her hand rested protectively over her stomach. The baby had been moving more lately — small flutters that reminded her she was no longer alone in her secret. A soft knock came on the door. Before she could answer, it opened.
