“Well?” Alpha Felix asks when I walk into his office later that night.
“I know why Kaelin was in a hurry to take over the pack, but I’m not sure I understand his reasoning,” I tell him.
“What does that mean?” He’s twirling his pen between his fingers, a habit he has when he’s thinking.
“Alpha Waylon handed over his pack to a new Alpha this evening,” I say, grinning when the pen stops.
“Who?”
“Sloane Hartwell,” I say, watching the disbelief on my Alpha’s face. I’m sure it was the same disbelief I felt when I saw her standing on the stage taking her oath as Alpha.
“He chose a woman as his successor?”
“Oh it’s get’s better,” I say, enjoying myself.
He sits back and gestures for me to continue.
“The Hartwell girl chose a female for her Beta.”
