Benedict is awake and alive. Both packs are secure. I know he can’t speak and without a mind link, I can’t communicate with Benedict.
He holds me while I cry, letting the frustration and fear of the last couple of days go. When I’m done, I wipe my face and look at him. He’s still too pale, but his eyes are bright and intense as he focuses on me.
“Do you need anything?” I ask.
He shakes his head no.
“Are you in pain?”
He points to his throat.
“Marrok?”
He shakes his head no again.
“He’ll be back. He’s a strong wolf and when he does, he’ll heal you. Until then, you need to rest and get your strength back,” I say.
He begins shaking his head, trying to sit up.
