‘Elena, I need to see you right away!’ my mother’s panicked voice says in the mind link.
My mother is a bit prone to hysterics. It works great when you need a man to do something for you but not so great when you’re her daughter.
‘Where are you?’
‘My bedroom. Hurry!’
I roll my eyes. The last time she got hysterical and needed my assistance, she’d left her window open, and a bird had flown in. Mom’s screeching made the bird so terrified, it couldn’t find its way back out the window.
“My mother needs me, but maybe we can pick this up later,” I say to the warrior who just ate me out like I was the best f*****g dessert on the planet. I have no doubt he’s hoping I’ll take him as a mate and when it’s time to pass the pack off to me, he’ll become Alpha.
