The silence in the car was different that early morning. I left the hospital shortly before the doctors made their rounds and breakfast was served. Giulia slept peacefully, while Isa settled into the armchair beside the bed to watch some television. Our routine had settled into this over the past few days, between Giulia and going to our house only for maintenance.
