“I’ve been trying to reach you. You’ve been ignoring my calls. I asked you out to lunch and you declined—.”
I zoned out of the conversation after Damien kept on whining about my communication skills on the other end of the phone.
“Valerie! Are you even listening to me?” He snapped, his voice rising in anger.
“Damien, I’ve had a long day and I’m not in the mood for your tantrums.” My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I guided the car to another street.
“Tantrums? I’m just trying to let you know that what you’re doing isn’t fair. I’ve been really patient with you but you’ve been treating me like I’m nothing.”
