“Try again, Madison?” I asked with a scoff. “Don’t say something like that anymore.”
“Why?” She breathed, a hint of disappointment in her voice.
“You know that Valerie is still in the picture.”
She scoffed bitterly. “But you guys aren’t even together.”
That sentence was triggering but I tried my best to stay calm. “It doesn’t matter. We are having a baby together and you need to respect that.”
Madison let out a humorless chuckle. “Are you forgetting the fact that you knew me before her? Have you forgotten about all the good times we shared?”
I closed my eyes briefly, letting out a deep sigh. “Valerie and I were married. We had a baby together.” I replied, my voice sharper than I had intended. “But you…..us….we were just in a relationship.”
