Erick I walked away stealthily, making sure not to make a sound. I tried to think of what was happening but I couldn't think of anything. I took a cold bath and tried to stay calm. Then, I asked a guard to summon Caleb. He arrived almost immediately. Caleb stood before me, shoulders squared, chin lifted, eyes firm and unflinching. Not a hint of guilt, nor shame, nor confusion. He looked… proud. Too proud. And for the briefest second, I could not breathe. “What is this hear about you and my mother?” He looked away briefly before returning his gaze back to me. “Your Majesty, I was hoping to inform you in a much better way,” he began but I cut him off abruptly. “Answer me!” I snapped. He flinched and immediately replied, “She's my mate,” he replied, leaving me speechless.
