“Luna Sophia, Queen Elise has arrived.”
Before I could answer, the door opened, revealing Queen Elise.
I immediately stood, nerves fluttering in my stomach. I took one last steadying breath, trying to compose myself even as my pulse hammered with nerves.
Of all the people I feared disappointing… she was near the top of the list.
I wasn’t ready to tell her why I had left, or how the guilt had drowned me, or how the fear of facing her had eaten at me like rust.
Queen Elise stood tall and radiant in a flowing deep-indigo gown that shimmered almost as brightly as my dress.
Her once pale, sickly complexion now glowed with health.
Her eyes looked more like Erick’s eyes now…. They sparkled with tenderness the moment they landed on me.
