Erick The sound of Sophia’s laughter hit me harder than I was ready to admit. I had missed that sound so much. I stood near the doorway of the restaurant, half in shadow, pretending to tidy up the counter just to keep my eyes on her. She looked exhausted, but still beautiful in a way that words couldn’t capture.
