I bite my lip and try to hang on. I want him so badly now that my body’s taking over, trying to pushitself up, trying to close any bit of space separating us. And then I hear it—my phone again. My ringtone cuts through the relative quiet and punctures the haze we’re lost in. “f**k,” Lucio growls. “Isn’t that thing on silent?” “Sorry,” I murmur. “But maybe I should check it?” “What if Evie needs us?” I ask. “Her mother would have called me,” Lucio says, nuzzling my neck. “Does she have your number?” I ask. “Because I know she has mine.” “f**k,” he says, releasing my wrists. “Fine. Go check.” I haul myself out of bed and run into the bathroom. The call cuts off just before I reach it, but I see thename on my screen. This is the fourth call. And it’s starting to really bother me.
