H A I L E Y Dominic and I drive to the hospital the next morning, my knuckles white from gripping the door handle. I didn't sleep a wink last night, my body thrumming with a nervous energy that I couldn't seem to shake. I just kept picturing Liam's pale, lifeless face, the flatline on the monitor, the desperate look in Dominic's eyes. Dominic reaches over and takes my hand, his touch a grounding force amidst the chaos. "He's going to be okay, Hailley," he says, his voice a low, steady rumble. "He's a fighter. He's a King."
