"Mom, the school is hosting a one week long summer camping trip to the mountains for the seniors, and I really want to go. It's our last year, and all of my friends are going," Liam said, popping his head into my office the next morning. He was trying to act casual, but I could see the nervous energy radiating from him.
I looked up from the stack of paperwork on my desk, a knot of dread tightening in my stomach. A week long trip. A whole week away from us, away from the pack. A whole week with her.
