By the time evening came, the house was full. I was amazed that Dominic had friends and relatives that were willing to leave their own family to come spend Christmas with us.
He must have really been close with them.
Maxine was settling in quite well, and Marcus who we later discovered was her mate, and husband. He was a really sweet guy, he wasn't a man of many words, but I could see how much he loved her.
She introduced us to him, and I could see the protectiveness from Gio and Dominic at first as they wondered who the strange man that was with their baby sister was. But, as soon as they talked and Maxine assured them that Marcus was not forcing her, and she was here by choice. They calmed down and accepted him.
It was the most bizarre and emotional experience.
