“Good,” I said, pulling back just enough to look at him. “Then we’re even.”
His eyes snapped open at that—bright, feral, beautiful. “You think you can take charge of me?” he asked, voice low, dangerous in the best way.
I met his gaze, steady and sure despite the tremor in my hands. “I can try.”
