Rachele swallowed. Rebecca shivered. “Are you sure?” I asked, even though I could feel the answer vibrating inside them. “Yes,” Rachele breathed. A whisper. A plea. “Please.” Rebecca nodded once, jaw trembling. “Please mark us.” Rudolph howled. I exhaled sharply, voice shaking as I said: “Then come here.” I guided them onto the couch, kneeling side by side, facing me. Not s****l. Not yet. Just present. Ready.
