A red flash to my left caught my attention. Aurora. She was already moving. The Gorgon hissed, black tongue flicking through razor-sharp teeth as it lunged, claws outstretched to tear at Aurora’s side. But she met it head-on, blades spinning in her hands like extensions of her will. She ducked, sidestepped, and drove her left blade deep into the creature’s gut. The Gorgon screamed, the sound high and shrill, like metal on bone. Aurora didn’t stop. She ripped the blade free, pivoted, and plunged the second sword up under the Gorgon’s chin.
