I almost laughed. Instead, I just smiled. We had been torn apart too long. Now, we were whole again. Touching her—without the pendant—was like finally hearing a melody I didn’t realize I’d been deaf to. Goddess, I’d missed this. Carefully, I lifted her shirt just a little and placed my fingertips on the soft skin beneath. Slowly, I began tracing lazy circles over her stomach. Not enough to wake her, just enough to stir the bond. The tingles danced beneath my skin like fireworks, and I felt her body react subtly—her breathing shifting, her back arching just slightly toward me in her sleep.
