Kendrick hadn’t spoken for a full ten minutes. Kyle looked like someone had clubbed him with a joy stick. And me? I felt free. Like the part of me that had always been looking for something—someone—had finally stopped searching. “Keegan…” she mumbled in her sleep, her voice hoarse and sleepy and utterly addictive. I froze, heart in my throat. “Yeah, kitty?” I whispered, brushing her hair back. But she didn’t respond. Just let out a breathy sigh and slipped back under. I chuckled softly.
